Interpretation
What the current data says
Price-to-rent indices track how home values have moved relative to rents since a common base period. Higher index levels indicate a larger rise in prices relative to rents since that base—not necessarily a more expensive market in cash terms.
- Portugal has the highest current price-to-rent index in the published set at 207.4 for 2026-Q1.
- The cross-country midpoint is 130.1; this is an index-level comparison against the common base, not an absolute affordability ranking.
- Finland is at the other end of the current published range at 82.7 for 2026-Q1.

Methodology
How this report is built
Countries are ranked by the latest OECD analytical price-to-rent index level. The companion annual change is calculated from the same quality-gated quarterly series.
Empty or insufficient sections are withheld. Every published row has an approved series, a valid market route and a finite current measure.
Caveats
Limits on comparison
- The index has a common base, but it does not compare absolute purchase prices, rents or household incomes.
- It is a valuation signal rather than a gross rental yield.
- The latest quarter can vary across countries; each row carries its own source period.
